After purchasing an Atomos Ninja V at the Photoshow in Birmingham’s NEC, I decided to give it a test drive. “So where best?” I thought. Why not a favourite haunt – the beaches around Seaham?

My first choice was a bit too dangerous in the dark so an easier trip to Glass Beach was my second choice as the car park is closer (lazy me). These are commonly called Cavalier landscapes in the trade, because it’s how close you can park your Vauxhall Cavalier to the location you’re photographing!

So the resulting film is all about the location and the moon. I created this with (here comes the boring stuff) Sony a6500 with Sigma 16mm and 30mm f1.4 lenses, Sony 18-105mm f4, Atomos Ninja V, Fotga video rig, Lee ND’s and Giotto tripod with levelling base. Edited in DaVinci Resolve on an AMD Windows computer, all footage captured in 4K, 25fps, 4:2:2 Pro-res.

Seeya soon.
