This is a fun project from Traveller and the Bear. The shoot was for the newly installed Christmas windows at the Stack in Newcastle upon Tyne city centre.
As you will see from the Behind the Scenes (BTS) images below (thanks Claire), the little monsters are only a few inches high. Sorry – about 7-ish centimetres! This can cause a few issues from a photography sense, especially when shooting on a slight angle. Also the images were ultimately to be printed at a much larger scale.
The lighting is relativley soft but sufficient to show detail in the figures. Below the BTS images, Antonio and Marcus from Traveller and the Bear have done a brill little social media animation with the photography. Fantastic!
Here’s a bit more from Claire Knight, Founder and MD of Traveller and the Bear.
“We were thrilled to be asked to design another Christmas window this year for Newcastle NE1. Carrying on from our monster theme of last year, we created some new festive fiends. Each monster was hand-made from scratch, and shot by Michael. We knew it would’nt be a straight-forward shoot as the monsters were small! We’re super proud to have our monster friends displayed at Stack in the city centre – next year we might even take on Fenwicks window – ya reckon?”
Equipment on this job: Nikon D800e, 85mm P-CE lens, Gemini 300b Flash units, Calumet flash triggers, camera teathered to a HP Elite Book running Smart Shooter 4 into Adobe Lightroom.
Seeya soon. mb
