This is a lovely project for a really great organisation – Ullswater Catchment – owned and ran by Danny and Maddy Teasdale based in Glenridding on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District.
Taken from their website: “Ullswater Catchment exists to restore balance and resilience to one of the most iconic landscapes in the Lake District. Working with farmers, landowners and partners to deliver practical, place-based projects that support both nature and local communities.”
So the brief was to create images that tell the story of what the company delivers but also these had to be beautiful and iconic which was a relief being based in the Lake District!
The images were part of an overall brand relaunch and repositioning for Ullswater Catchment undertaken with long-standing collaborators, Infinite Design. Based on the concept of land, water and people co-existing within the Ullswater catchment area, the images needed to reflect each of these themes.
The different equipment and approach for this one was take as many images as possible on long lenses. That might sound a bit strange working with the wide views the Lake District has to offer but I liked the idea of isolating the people in the landscape more interesting with the longer lens.
As you can also see in the BTS images below this project involved more wet feet, a herd of cattle and endless walking through amazing countryside, another fantastic day at the office!
