Here’s a location lighting project that’s been a few months in the making.

A few locations were selected and then wittled down to this one. The street-art used as the backdrop was created by the fantastic artist Frank Styles – check him out, he’s amazing.

But let’s get back to the car. It would have been helpful if I could have to shot tethered to the computer, but the weather wasn’t too kind so good old fashioned experience was the order of the day.

We used a Nikon D800e with a 45mm PCE lens, the lighting was provided by a Godox 360 with a standard dish attached on a boom pole triggered with a Godox wireless radio trigger. I lit small parts of the car and as you can just about see in the grid images below, these were then processed to the look and feel I was after. Then an extra image was created of the roof part of the building so I could make the image the size and shape I intended it to be, the images were then exported as TIFFs to be opened in Photoshop and retouched together to create a large resolution final image.
