This is an interesting night shot for World Haemophilia Day commissioned by Spectrum Science.

Buildings that are bathed in red light can sometimes be a little disappointing with digital capture. Yes cameras capture in RGB colour space, but for some reason (usually because of other colours recorded at the same time) red can offer up a problem or two. In this case careful exposure was required so the detail in the Middlesbrough Town Hall clock face didn’t disappear. The clock numbers and design detail would be lost, so minus two thirds of a stop exposure was applied at the capture stage. Other issues ended up more challanging than the photography element of the job itself. Taxi’s parking in front of the Town Hall and temporary traffic lights on the corner of the Town Hall meant the image at the cross roads made the composition tricky and to make matters worse the temporary lights ended up stuck on red in every direction so lines of traffic became backed up! I didn’t want a traffic jam in any of the images, I wanted the focus of the shot to be on the red Town Hall.

Lenses used on this one was a 24mPCE lens and a 28mm and 35mm shift lenses, also a 14mm af F2.8 was used at the traffic lights. Camera Nikon D800e on a large Benro tripod with a Manfrotto geared head.
